Support for the Mobility Impaired
Grand Hotel had a disabled parking place put in front of the hotel in Grand Parade as a priority 20 years ago as soon as the hotel was purchased (and well before the Disability Discrimination Act.) with the help of Hastings Borough Council, for physically challenged guests and visitors. At the same time ramped access was installed to the ground floor in Market Street for wheelchair users. There are two ground floor rooms and both rooms were completely revamped in 2009 and are accessible. There is a modern, fully adapted wet room complete with non slip tiled flooring, handrails, trombone, separate 4 point alarm system.Carved Indonesian furniture, jacquard soft furnishings complete this superior boutique style suite. There is a cosy ground floor area including a comfortable sea view lounge for meals and relaxation.

Support for the Visually Impaired
Visually challenged guests such as members of blind bowling clubs etc.have always been welcomed .Our website, interior and exterior signs, menus etc. are specially designed to help. Our carpets are flecked and multi-coloured throughout to help. The ensuite bathrooms have bright white tiling but in addition flecked flooring and a horizontal, narrower tiled blue band running round the tiled walls-again to help. Most importantly, staff here are well aware of the extra care required and are fully trained.

Support for the Hearing Impaired
All staff are alerted to the special needs of guests with hearing difficulties and how to make them both safe and comfortable. They are trained to face those hard of hearing,to speak slowly and clearly,to use simple notepad and pen and to offer physical assistance only when it has been requested
