Reality TV checks into the Grand Hotel

The Grand Hotel, in Grand Parade, will lead off the third series of the award-winning Channel 5 make-over programme.

It is sure to make fiery viewing as fearsome presenter Ruth Watson and Grand manager Peter Mann frequently clash in the course of the programme.

Despite this, Mr Mann is looking forward to watching their efforts on air. He said: "I am really excited about going on air next week and although it will make difficult viewing for me, I hope it will portray the Grand Hotel and Hastings and St Leonards in a good light. "Taking part in the filming was a wonderful experience and although I despised Ruth Watson, she did a really good job. "She tried her best to be a cow to me, but I think I gave her a good battle and surprised her a little with a few of my ideas.

"I am happy we are first up because the producers said they wanted an explosive start to the series with the way our personalities clashed.
"I have already had a lot of people coming to the Grand on the back of this from all over the world, so I think this will contribute a lot to Hastings and add to the dramatic changes the town has made."

The show will highlight the improvements to the 17-room hotel. The show is due to air on Channel 5 on Thursday, September 6 at 9pm, with a spevideo diary of his experiences by Mr Mann afterwards.

Presenter Ruth Watson, said: "The Grand was looking tired when we got there, but Peter really did take up the cudgel and we improved the appearance.
"I found Peter frustrating and he seemed to be playing games, but he is an intelligent and interesting man and does take his hotel seriously."
